Don Valdez : Construction Process Manager

I began my career here in San Diego County and have been a part of the building industry since 1977. Building custom homes has been my passion for more then 30 years. I personally inspect every component of your new home, from the foundation to the finishing touches. I believe it is this careful attention to detail that turns a house into a home.

Over the years I have supervised the construction of custom homes in San Diego, Del Mar, La Jolla, Escondido, El Cajon, French Valley and Fairbanks Ranch. These homes have had a wide range of difficulty, from level slab on grade conventional foundations in Escondido to three story cliff hanging homes built on 72 foot deep caissons and grade beams in Del Mar. Some of the custom features built into the homes have been wine cellars, home theaters, saunas, steam showers, waterfalls, tennis courts, solar systems and state of the art electronics.

It is important to me to keep our homeowners informed and to make myself accessible to answer any questions they may have during the process. My main focus when building your home will always be quality control. While inspecting a house under construction I look at it as if it were my own. It is my firm belief that you can build a home that is completed on schedule and value engineered without sacrificing quality.

David Hahn : Director of Southern California Operations

I started my career in the building industry by working my way through school as a carpenter in Southern California. As the opportunity arose I began supervising project activities including all phases of homebuilding, scheduling, budgeting, customer interaction and site development. During that time I oversaw the construction of over 3,000 single-family homes, two schools and several commercial and institutional buildings.

As time progressed I turned my attention to the operations side of building. This included setting up systems and operations, including land entitlement, site development, sales and marketing, safety, quality control, and warranty. Recently I participated in the entitlement and development of a large master planned community.

My desire is to make certain that the everyday operations run smoothly so that we can build your home as efficiently as possible. We want to ensure a quicker and easier process for getting you back into your home.

Bob Bourdette : Sales Consultant

My past experience in the building industry consists of over five years mortgage banking experience including construction, land acquisition/development and single family mortgages.  I have been responsible for coordinating financing for residential developments as well as individual custom homes. Over the years I assisted clients with construction financing - including review of line item budgets, reading plans, budgeting and documentation for both new construction and remodeling.  In addition I have held my California Real Estate License for 4 years. I am on my children's PTO boards, and participate on a number of non-profit fundraising committees.  I enjoy serving our community including working with children and those who are trying to turn their lives around and become productive members of society.

Most recently I have had the opportunity to assist families who lost their homes in the 2007 wildfires by guiding them through the process of rebuilding their lives and their homes. I have helped these families through the insurance process by empowering them with tools to ensure they are receiving the maximum benefits they are entitled to. I continue to assist them in planning the rebuild of their new home, from design and construction plans, to their final amenity selections. I am grateful for this rewarding process.  It is an honor to help so many families who lost their homes as they navigate through the many twists and turns that they face every day.

I have met many of our clients at trade shows, street fairs and community forums - taking every opportunity to discern their needs and whether we may be able to serve them effectively and with integrity. I look forward to the chance to walk with you throughout the rebuilding process. Call me today for an appointment. 858.332.2081

Ed Smith : Sales Consultant

My previous work experience has covered a range of activities but all had a common thread -- interacting with and helping people. I earned a Business Degree with an emphasis in Marketing from San Francisco State University and did graduate work at several universities. My professional career has included a variety of sales and sales management positions in corporate America. For years, I was involved in Christian ministry where I participated in management, teaching, counseling, weddings and funerals.  During that time, I was also involved in the design, remodeling and building of facilities both here and abroad.

In more recent years, I have been involved in business consulting and the real estate industry - commercial, industrial, residential and land development.  The business consulting always included fixing problem areas.  Frequently, the real estate transactions took a long time to complete.  At the end of one particularly lengthy transaction, a client said to me, "After talking every day for so long, I feel like I am going through withdrawals."  Such activities are very people intensive but provide the opportunity to build long term relationships.

My position with Envision Homes includes working with property owners that are searching for a builder and with fire survivors who lost their homes and contents in the 2007 wild fires.  Thanks to the example of the owner, it is easy to present Envision Homes as a company with a heart for people. Working with fire survivors is a unique challenge. The trauma produced by the disaster requires patience while helping the family work through a series of steps prior to their rebuild. My role as their sales consultant usually is more like that of a "life coach."  We take each family at their own pace; through a complete process that covers insurance issues, design, amenities, government agencies and rebuild.  It requires ongoing communication from start to finish.

My wife and I have lived in Encinitas, California (North San Diego County) for over 30 years.  Our three children are grown, happily married and having children of their own.  Now we also enjoy their children.
